Edwin Eells was the son of Protestant missionaries Rev. Cushing and Myra Eells; he served for many years as Indian Agent at Tacoma. The collection consists of a speech delivered by Eells at the Cushman Indian School near Tacoma, 16 June 1910.

Edwin Eells was a son of Rev. Cushing and Myra Eells who were among the earliest Protestant missionaries in the area. He was born at Tsimakain Mission, some thirty miles north of present-day Spokane.
